With the exception of my smart phone, I have taken a much needed stay away from most electronic devices to enjoy some peace, quiet and serenity as well as the beautiful scenery of the island.

The hot sun, turquoise waters and the hospitality of the beautiful Thai women are indescribable. The reason for my email is not to boast , but I forgot if it is time for my renewal, I hope that it is not past my date, I don’t remember if it was mid May or June?

I am currently in 3 trades and have my limits set, hoping I can make some money while vacationing. Thanks to you and your service I was able to afford this trip.” ~ Kevin S.

Made about $3,000 Thursday. Up over $10,000 in May and $105,000 in 2013. It was an awesome day for teaching, the video lesson is coming. After sitting on my hands Monday through Wednesday I got tempted to go after a few breakouts, when the market was breaking out. This would have been fine but a rumor hit QE3 was ending and the market rolled over, creating a strong headwind for my moves. Right before the close the rumor was dismissed by CNBC and the market snapped back but by then it was too late, most stocks with momentum lost it.

I recorded a video lesson last night about it because it’s not often I play video lesson 3 (breakouts), let alone 3 in a day. Actually did a lesson Thursday night which is good but after a good nights sleep the lesson deserves more attention, so I’ll record a new one today during the session and send it to you – there is a lot to learn from what happened to me Thursday.

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke will take the mic in Chicago at 9:30 a.m. Eastern and investors will be tuning in for any clues about where we’re headed with the $85-billion-per-month asset-purchase program. If he hints at a halt or even cutting back, look out below. But that’s not going to happen with inflation running below the bank’s mandate and unemployment still up at 7.5%.

I think the market will rally today and close at an all time high. It continues to be difficult to keep a large portfolio of stocks overnight because the S&P 500 is overbought and a natural pullback to the 20 Moving Average could be right around the corner. Bull markets are fun to trade but once they get overbought it’s wise not to get caught in the pullback, not as a swing trader anyway.

GLUU – Want to average in above $2.40 for the next swing up. This is a trade like MM was in that it’s starting to base and I like it between $2.40 – $2.60 swing back into the $3′s the next time it gets hot. Plenty of catalysts out there so it’s an accumulation game right now. I’d like to have 30,000 shares as close to $2.40 as possible and then hold onto it like I did MM, so starts as a swing with the intent to go long if it trades as expected.

REE – MCP rocked earnings and is above $6 in the premarket. I’ve been trading and following MCP close daily so I’m confident this sector winner will lift the tide of other rare earth plays. Technically speaking a break of $1.90 and this could get above and work the 50 Moving Average as support. Thinking profit before $2.30 price action resistance.

ZAGG – Considering this trade today working straight out of video lesson 1 (oversold). The MACD is close to setting up and my only reservation is the market has been strong, so if the market turns this pattern could attract another round of sellers sensing blood in the water. It’s heavily shorted and above $5.10 it could push hard into the gap. Candle over candle at $4.75 I’ll either play for the quick push into the gap or accumulate above $4.75. Sometimes these squeeze quick but then fade so I’m not looking to go long here, though it’s probably a decent long entry if $4.75 holds. Historically ZAGG doesn’t stay oversold for long if you check the charts.

“Hi Jason. I got 10 contracts of NFLX April 26 $175 calls for earnings at $13.20 and sold Tuesday morning at $42.45 for a BOOOMING PROFIT of over $29,000! What a way to start the day!

My strategy is to hit 5-10% swing trades over and over. Swing trades are 1-4 day holds. I play stocks between $1 and $10 on national exchanges with at least $1 million in liquidity on the day. Through my real money trades I teach clients my strategy. So far in 2013 I’m up over $100,000 swing trading part time, almost 33% on the portfolio. When I’m in a swing trade 99% of the time I take 1/2 my position off at 5% and the other half at 10%. So if you’re visiting my blog and see a 7% win advertised, that means I nailed the trade.

Now I understand 7% doesn’t sound like much but if you truly sit down and do the math… 3% on your portfolio each month is 36% at the end of the year. Tell me, when is the last time your investment advisor returned 36% to you in a year? So I can’t help but highlight Kevin who is realizing the power of 5% wins across multiple trades. I say it over and over, 5% is always 5% whether it’s on $10,000 ($500) or $30,000 ($1,500). Tell me a handful of 5% wins each month wouldn’t help you? An extra $2,500 in the pocket each month. That’s a luxury car payment or a mortgage payment in my mind.

“BTW I am 4 weeks in so far, and green the last two weeks. the first two weeks were a little rough I came out swinging for the fences. I’ve slowed down, watched some of your videos twice and last week decided to pay at 5% no questions, rinse and repeat.

This week with MM, I set a profit stop at 5% and got another 3% on it. Sad to see I could have made much more, but I paid myself, and extremely happy about the trade. Seeing all the little 2-5% wins add up has really changed the way I trade.” - Kevin W.

“Jason, in my long career, I have had the privilege to hire “go getters”. A salesman must be a go getter or he will starve to death.

You, my friend, are a go getter and I’m proud to say I know you, even if it is long distance and via the internet, because, you are not only a go getter, but you care about the people who come to you for guidance and you are a people person. You have a knack and the patience (most of the time) to shepherd people to find their own way. When you don’t have the patience it is because someone is not playing by the “courtesy rules” and you easily take the appropriate action.

I am enjoying my daily visits to the chat room and as you have guessed, I am a watcher and listener. Check it out, I’m always there and if you don’t see me logged in, I have gone to the stock market in the sky… lol, just kidding. I’m up every morning at 5:30 west coast time to get ready of your words of wisdom. Here at the computer by 6 am my time, 9 yours.

I am going to write a blog for you in a few months, but won’t tell you what it is about. I want to say to you and Pam, that I couldn’t be prouder than if you were one of my clan. You work very hard for us and you deserve all the good things in life. I’m so proud of you, I may think of adopting the both of you.

I consider myself fortunate to have found you and your website and your wisdom. For a guy who is advanced chronologically, I’m honored to know you and your merry band of assistants. A great crew you have assembled all willing to help.

I like the posting of the current picks in the announcements since I don’t have to log into the website and look for them if they came late in the evening.

Thanks to you and Pam for making my days something to look forward to . Please note that I usually include Pam in these messages because while I know you are well educated and a very good stock picker… your wife is really the power behind the throne and I know that, because my wife is also. Kudos Pam!

Therefore, swing trading is mainly used by at-home and day traders. Large institutions trade in sizes too big to move in and out of stocks quickly. The individual trader is able to exploit such short-term stock movements without having to compete with the major traders.

Made another $1,000 Monday closing ZNGA and $2,300 total on GLUU bringing April’s profit to $16,970 and 2013 profit to $94,284. The portfolio is up 30% in 2013 and with one day left in April I’m starting to think about my goal for May which is $10,000. I’m about 90% cash heading into the last day in April 2013, here’s the portfolio and open trade analysis.

The major indices advanced Monday after economic data showed consumer spending and pending home sales were up, despite personal income coming in lower than expected. Into Tuesday the economic calendar continues to heat up with employment cost index at 8:30 a.m. EST followed by the Case-Schiller home price index, Chicago PMI and consumer confidence index.

Technically the S&P 500 closed just below all time highs applying more pain to shorts as the recent rally gained more momentum. Tuesday’s data, if strong, could drive the S&P 500 above 1600 triggering a major breakout in the major indices. Adding fuel to the fire, it’s not even close to overbought and there’s no sign of QE3 slowing anytime soon.

Given the major indices could breakout Tuesday I might look to work a breakout i.e. video lesson 3. If the market is weak Tuesday though, breakouts are far and few between so all bets are off if it’s at horizontal resistance. Most of the time I’m accumulating video lesson 1 (oversold) and selling into video lesson 2 (continuation) but Tuesday I might buy video lesson 3 which is a continuation patterns pending a breakouts. Keep in mind breakouts often squeeze which can add a burst to the trade and deliver gains quicker than accumulation trades. All ascending triangles with 3 out of 5 (GTAT, QTM, RFMD) pending breakout territory.

These charts include trendlines so it’s a great way to reference the ascending triangles, by far my favorite continuation pattern. Notice how EGLE and JVA are just coming off support while GTAT, QTM and RFMD are pending the breakout. Huge difference in how they hold up during a run and understanding that can be the difference between profit and loss so please be sure to watch video lesson 2 and video lesson 3 if new.

GTAT – Nice breakout pending chart into Tuesday with some resistance below $4 and the 200 Moving Average at $4.11 at which point it’s clear blue sky to $4.50′s. With an RSI of 67 it’d be in and out time on GTAT because the 1-year chart shows it doesn’t hold overbought status for long. Having said that, this setup could lead to a multi-day breakout but I’d definitely be watching it close along the way for signs of profit taking.

EGLE – Off $3 support and out of the recent wedge a move to $4 is what I’m looking for here. This is straight from my video lessons and while buying $3 would have been ideal, the topside action above $3.37 Monday means it could be gearing for a bigger move.

JVA – Light volume but definitely in play above $6.50 and on the curl. Looking for chop at $7 but even with that I think $7.30′s is reasonable if volume accompanies a move through the 200 Moving Average. I’d like to see some volume before making a move here, it’s just too thin of late but this curl should attract others as well, so we’ll see.

QTM – Accumulation above the 200 Moving Average this is a perfect example of what I call chop -n- pop! Notice how it’s slowly walking higher just under a common area of resistance in the upper $1.40′s? If volume builds and $1.47 falls it could run to the $1.70′s which would be a big win for a $1 stock.

RFMD – Into breakout territory Monday, the $5.50 break was key, if the major indices advance Tuesday this could open up on the way to $6. I’m thinking $5.40 should act as support for the breakout to go, otherwise I’ll put it in the parking lot for trendline accumulation around $5.20.

I believe in excellent communication daily with my premium clients because they like me have busy lives.

Most of my premium clients trade part time leaning on me to do the heavy lifting for them i.e. scanning, watch listing, alerting etc…

Each night or morning I send my premium clients a watch list providing my thoughts on the boarder indices and stocks I’m looking to buy.

From there I place swing trades during market hours and send those alerts by email and text message in real time.

Here’s how my nightly watch list and daily open trade analysis led to my entry and 17% profit on Millennial Media (NYSE:MM).

Remember, swing trading is about buying when it doesn’t look good and selling when it does, something I teach in video lesson #1.

Watch List Notes

Delivered to clients daily leading up to the buy on Millennial Media

Tuesday April 9, 2013 MM – Big earnings miss Millennial is a decent company and I don’t think they are finished so I’m watching for this consolidation base to stick for a swing back to the gap down resistance around $10. Right now I’m keying $5.87 as the candle over candle to see if this is truly the bottom. Down over 50% in just over a month, the bounce could be nice.

Thursday April 11, 2013 MM - I’m also considering MM around $6.30 as rumors heat up Yahoo might be a buyer, which makes sense. This is a good company to add to your master watch under $10. I’d like to be long this trade when I get in so swing for $8 is what I’m thinking right now.

Friday April 12, 2013 MM - Had a bid in at $6.27 Thursday for 7,000 shares but missed my fill. I’ll be trying to get in this above $6 again Friday and alert you when I do. I like company and it’s recent miss on earnings has afforded me the opportunity to swing trade it. Wednesday there were rumors floating it’s a buyout target of Yahoo and of the hundreds of rumors floating, this one actually makes sense to me. I like it in the $6.20′s – $6.30′s and would probably be long this trade after entry. As with all longs, if I got a big profit fast you’d probably see me take it but right now I think going long this would make a good trade to $9 or about 40% from here.

Monday April 15, 2013 MM - I’ve followed this company for a long time but it’s always been too high priced for the newsletter until recently. Rumors floating that Yahoo is a potential buyer and while I don’t trade off rumors, this one actually makes sense. It’s starting to show signs of coming out of the basing pattern, Friday I wanted the low $6.20′s and didn’t get it but I’m still interested if it gets above the 20 Moving Average around $6.60 or pulls back to support again just above $6. I’m thinking this will be a long, so it’s a good one for those who like more flexible entries and exits.

Buy Alert

Sent by email and text in real time on Monday 4/15/13

Monday April 15, 2013 Bought 5,000 MM at $6.23 scaling in. Plan is to buy more around $6 or $6.30′s.

Open Trade Analysis

Sent daily so clients know my thoughts on every portfolio position

Tuesday April 16, 2013 MM - 5,000 at $6.23, currently $6.32. Last week I missed a few chances to get this in the $6.20′s so I was happy to get the price I wanted Monday. Scaling in meaning I’ll buy another 5,000 shares just above $6 or in the $6.30′s.

Wednesday April 17, 2013 MM - 5,000 at $6.23 swing, currently $6.26. Sideways action Tuesday, still looking to buy another 5,000 just above $6 or in the $6.30′s. If this plays nicely, it’s possibly I’ll hold it longer than a swing.

Scaling Alert

Sent by email and text in real time on Wednesday 4/17/13

Wednesday April 17, 2013 Added 5,000 MM at $6.07 now long 10,000 at $6.15.

Sell Alert

Thursday April 25, 2013 Rock -n- Roll! MM is swing trading at its best. About 1-week in the trade and $10,214 profit for me or 17%. Couldn’t look at 5-figures for long without taking it haha – not a bad problem to have on a Thursday in April! Sun is shining!!! I think it has more in the tank but I’m getting paid, rinse and repeat.

“Great call brother. Made $16,000 on that one.” ~ Patrick B.
